If you are trying to arrange accommodation abroad, do not part with any money atall before you have seen a property. Do not accept documents sent by e-mail as proof of ownership. Remember: 'No bricks, no money.'There is a centuries-old method of fraud called 'confidence-trickster' and it is fairly easy if you are looking on the internet to fall foul of this technique when you are looking for accommodation abroad.
On the internet, confidence tricksters try to establish a 'relationship' with you by exchange of e-mail. The confidence trick (if it ever happens) is to get you to ignore the fact that you don't really know who they are or where they are, because you so want what is on offer that you suspend your judgement.
It is also fairly easy to not fall foul of this..
If you follow the rule that unless you can see the bricks and the landlord with your eyeballs, and you don't hand over any money, then the internet can't defraud you.

hi there
I am looking for another young cool person to start a new flatshare with. I am currently looking at various apartments in Amsterdam and have already found some very promising looking ones close to the center and good value (for amsterdam prices).
I currently already live in Amsterdam but my place is too expensive in the long run and the area is too noisy.
I work here for a major FMCG giant and am both sociable, clean and outgoing.
Gender doesn't matter but ideally I'd like to share with someone reliable, fun and easy going around my age 24.
